ROOM 34(2022)
I’ve spent both my years of undergrad so far living in a shared triple dorm with the same two people. Our room sophomore year was so comically small that we had to shove our desks under our beds just to make space to walk through the room. This living situation could’ve driven anyone to near insanity and certainly almost did, but thankfully me and my roommates actually like each other quite a lot.
“Room 34” is a heartfelt representation of that little shoebox room and the people who made it feel like home. Shot on 16mm, I very exhaustingly hand-scratched all animations directly onto the developed film. The soundtrack is entirely comprised of layered recordings taken in the room during our first few months living there.
